Round 3 Northern Lights U17 Div 2

MATCH REPORT

NORTHERN LIGHTs U17/2 (27) vs CANADA BAY CANNONS (71) ROUND 3 –23rd APRIL 2017 MIKE KENNY OVAL

After a good training run on Wednesday night Anthony and I were looking forward to a good showing against Canada Bay but the unfortunate lack of numbers available for the game put a slight dent in our plans. Injuries and boys still away made it tough to get required numbers but we were able to field a side. A hot day and a big ground meant that another game with no reserves against a full squad was going to be a tough task.

We had a slow start in the first quarter but pleasingly didn’t let the opposition get too far ahead. Starting to have confidence and trusting in each other meant passages of play were very encouraging and will no doubt become our normal standards of play.

With goals to Josh J, Scott and Monte in the second quarter we were starting to get a bit of continuity within the team and weren’t too far behind at half time.

The third quarter we started ok but started to fade late letting the opposition kick 3 goals while only managing a goal to Lachy.

The fourth quarter was hard for both teams but pleasingly the boys didn’t let the opposition kick a goal in the last quarter.

Our on field success will come but we need to work hard and be accountable. Never giving up and second and third efforts will be key.
