Registrations for the 2026 Auskick & Superkick season are open!
The big difference for the 2026 season is the introduction of Superkick in addition to Auskick. In short, Auskick is our fun, introductory program for children turning 4, 5 or 6 in 2026 (born 2020, 2021 or 2022). Superkick is a more advanced version of Auskick for kids turning 7 in 2026 (born 2019), although is also open to any older kids who do not want to participate in a junior football team. Both Auskick & Superkick will run at the same time each week during the 2026 football season – Sundays 8:30 – 9:30am at Rofe Park, Hornsby Heights.
The 2026 season is anticipated to commence on 19 April 2026 & run through until mid August 2026, with approximately 15 sessions.
In exciting news, Auskick & Superkick will only have a fee of $55 for the season (early bird rate until 16 January 2026), provided you use the voucher code D25E1769 at checkout! The fee will jump up to $65 from 17 January 2026. Registration includes all Auskick/Superkick sessions for the 2026 season, a pack of goodies sent out by the AFL & the opportunity to participate in many club-wide events!

Auskick is for all boys and girls from the ages of 4 – 6 (born 2020 to 2022 inclusive for the 2026 season). Auskick is a fun introductory program to Australian Rules football, where the kids participate in age-appropriate activities and games. There is a focus on keeping groups small to encourage constant participation. Don’t worry if you and/or your child/ren know nothing about AFL, it is all about having fun & learning as they go! For additional information about Auskick, you may wish to visit the AFL Auskick website.
Our Auskick program runs each Sunday Morning from 8:30am – 9:30am at Rofe Park, Hornsby Heights during the winter football season (April – August), with an anticipated first session on 19 April 2026, although there will be come & try and other events prior to this that your child is welcome to participate in.
Our program typically has in excess of 70 children registered each season, with an ever-growing group of girls. For more specific information about girls football at our club (including Auskick) – click here.
For any queries relating to Auskick, feel free to contact Laura & Steve Hetherington on auskick@hornsbyberowraeagles.com or 0401 720 460 (Laura) / 0421 003 677 (Steve).
Superkick is new in 2026! Think of it as being the more advanced version of Auskick and for boys and girls turning 7 or older in 2026. It continues to focus on fun activities & games and is a stepping stone towards playing in a junior football team or for those where they don’t want to participate in a team. The concepts of Superkick are much the same as Auskick, where parent involvement is welcome & encouraged and the activities & games are designed to be non-contact in nature. For additional information about Superkick, you may wish to visit the AFL Superkick website.
Our Superkick program will run parallel to our Auskick program in 2026 and will take place each Sunday Morning from 8:30am – 9:30am at Rofe Park, Hornsby Heights during the winter football season (April – August), with an anticipated first session on 19 April 2026, although there will be come & try and other events prior to this that your child is welcome to participate in.
If your child is turning 7 or older in 2026, and you feel that they are ready to participate in a junior football team (playing games against other clubs each Sunday & training mid-week), we can look at having your child play in a junior football team rather than participate in Superkick. For this to happen, we would need your child to register for Junior Football, rather than Superkick. The registration settings won’t necessarily allow you to do this, so please reach out to our registrar (Neil) registrar@hornsbyberowraeagles.com or vice-president (Brendan) admin@hornsbyberowraeagles.com to discuss this further.
For any queries relating to Superkick, feel free to contact Laura & Steve Hetherington on auskick@hornsbyberowraeagles.com or 0401 720 460 (Laura) / 0421 003 677 (Steve).
FAQs
When does the season start?
The first Auskick/Superkick session for the 2026 season is anticipated to be on 19 April 2026. There will be some Come & Try days and a season launch prior to this, which all kids are welcome to attend.
Will you have any Come & Try days?
Yes. There will be multiple come & try days ahead of the 2026 season. The first Come & Try day will be Sunday 1 February at Rofe Park, with the Auskick/Superkick session running from 8:30 – 9:30am. Please keep an eye out on our socials and our website for further details.
Auskick/Superkick Sessions Location/Time
Auskick/Superkick sessions for the season will be held at Rofe Park, Hornsby Heights from 8:30 – 9:30am. We encourage children and parents/guardians to arrive from 8:15am to have a bit of a kick around with your child prior to the session starting.
Do parents/guardians need to be present during Auskick/Superkick sessions?
Yes, parents/guardians MUST be present for the duration of all Auskick sessions. Given the number of children present at our sessions, and despite all care taken, we are not responsible for the whereabouts and activities of your child/ren. Please ensure that at least 1 parent/guardian is present during all Auskick sessions.
What does my child wear for Auskick/Superkick sessions?
All children will be provided with a club jersey to wear for the season. This will be provided at the first Auskick/Superkick session for the season. Your child will get to keep and wear the jersey for the duration of the season, however they are to be returned at the end of the season.
Children participating in Auskick/Superkick are not required to wear club shorts and socks although they are an option for those wishing to purchase them (we do find that the majority of children do opt to wear these).
Club shorts and socks (along with other club merchandise will be available to purchase at the Come & Try days in Feb/March, our Season Launch in March or from the club canteen throughout the season. You can also purchase items from the club online store, although these won’t be available to collect until the Come & Try Days/Season Launch or when the season commences.
Does my child need to wear football boots?
Football boots are not compulsory for Auskick/Superkick. It is perfectly fine for your child to choose to wear boots should they wish, however it is also perfectly fine for them to wear joggers and we see a mix of this among the kids in our program.
If you are contemplating having your child wearing boots for the season, our club runs a boot recycling program (Reboot the Boot) where you can donate old boots (and they are cleaned) and then made available to other kids at the club for a small fee. We will have boots available at our Come & Try days and Season Launch early in 2026. If you have old boots that you would like to donate, they can be handed in to the club on these days as well.
Does my child need to wear a mouthguard?
All Auskick/Superkick games & activities are non-contact in nature. That said, there is always the risk of unintentional contact and kids will be kids and sometimes contact does occur with some of our activities. Mouthguards are not considered to be required for Auskick/Superkick, however this is a decision that you need to make for your child.
Can I help by being an Activity Helper?
Yes! Auskick/Superkick is only possible to run with the assistance of parent (or other) activity helpers. Everyone involved in running our Auskick/Superkick program at our club is a volunteer. Each week we run a series of activities and games, where we need parents to assist. We anticipate needing at least 10 parents to be able to help with this each week for our program to run effectively. No experience is necessary. The AFL have clear instructions and resources for all activities, which we allocate ahead of our sessions. The kids love it when parents are involved too. If you are keen to be involved as an activity helper this season, please get in touch. We will be sending out further information about this closer to the season, for those contemplating this.
How is information communicated for Auskick/Superkick?
Most communication for Auskick/Superkick is done via email throughout the season. Should this change, we will notify you of this. You will also be added to the club wide email list to be kept up-to-date with all the happenings at the club.
The club also has a social media presence as follows

What is the deal with u8s football?
U8s football used to be an extension of the Auskick program. This changed in 2025 & u8s football is part of junior football. As such, children of u8 age are to register for junior football. You will also note above the further changes this year, with the introduction of Superkick for what were previously our older Auskick age children. If you have a child of true u7 age (i.e. born 2019) that desperately wants to play up in an u8s team (or U9s in the case of the girls), please email registrar@hornsbyberowraeagles.com or admin@hornsbyberowraeagles.com for details as to whether this is suitable and how to do this.
Do I get an Auskick/Superkick Pack when registering my child and what is in it?
All registered children will receive an pack of goodies from the AFL . We have not been advised what the contents of the 2026 pack will be, although they usually include a ball and other items which you will have selected when you registered. These are sent out by the AFL and have nothing to do with the club. These are usually delivered closer to the start of the season.
Do you have a club song?
Yes, like all football clubs, our club has a club song, which we sing after all Auskick/Superkick sessions. If you or your child are interested, you can find the lyrics and listen to a recording of our club song here.
