U9 Super Fish
On 16 June 2019 our brave U9s took on Pennant Hills at Ern Holmes Oval. Their match report said it was raining but I don’t know.
They played a full half a game in the pouring rain, slipping and sliding and getting filthy! Apparently footy doesn’t get much better than that when you’re 9!
The kids were all happy (and wet!!).
Well done U9s! Super tough! And Super Fish!

Riley Casey – 50 Games
Riley Casey hit his 50th game milestone on Sunday 12/05/19.
Riley has been with Horsnby Berowra Eagles since 2012. He has 3 years of Auskick before joining the U8’s in 2015 then progressing through the grades.
Riley is one of the younger and leaner members of the team. What he lacks in size he makes up for in speed and agility.
Riley generally plays in the forwards and is one of the more consistent goal scorers for the team.
He is great at breaking away and very skilful at bouncing the ball on the run to give himself and get closer to the goals.
Riley is highly valued member of the U12 team and is held in high regard by his teammates.
Mother’s Day – 12 May 2019
We were truly spoilt with another magical day at Rofe Park last weekend for Mothers Day. Our amazing Grounds Team were at the park at sunrise doing their thing, as they do every week. No mothers day sleep in for them!
Our Auskickers were off and running, with lots of lovely mums coaching and cheering them on!
Huge thanks to our amazing sponsor, Bakers Delight Berowra for supplying these tasty buns to treat our mums. With their help we raised just over $100 to support the Breast Cancer Network Australia.
U8 Reds put on a fabulous display for their mums in their first official game of the season!
U10 mums were on the sideline for the lunch time match. What more could they want than a coffee, a sausage sandwich and some awesome footy?!
Our amazing Managers Coordinator Robyn, even managed to prepare gifts for her team’s mums. She really is the epitome of a footy mum
We really are so thankful to our Hornsby Berowra Eagles mums. And especially thankful on Mothers Day for all their support for our kids to play the game that we love.
Happy Mothers Day!
Mikayla “Mickey” Hain – 50 Games!
Mikayla made her AFL debut for the Northern Lights U13/3 boys’ team in 2016. She was coached by Sean Peter, who made sure the fab four girls were an integral part of the team. Mikayla has since moved to the North West Lightning girls (Youth Girls 15/1 and then 16/1), together with constant team mates Madi and Kim, forming a tight-knit team over the past couple of years.
Since the start of 2018 Mikayla has been coached by Perry Waldon with assistant coach dad Barry.
Mickey loves playing in the forwards and many a goal has come off her boot. She seldom misses a match and has also filled in for the div 2 team when necessary.
Mikayla has also been a regular umpire, currently in her third year, also doing goal umpiring for the seniors.
Mikayla is a valuable and dedicated team member and her gorgeous smile is inspiring. Congratulations Mickey!
Jake Le Lievre – 50 Games!
Congratulations to Jake Le Lievre who achieved 50 HBE games on the weekend. We took a few minutes to chat with his coach after this milestone:
Jake started with HBE in 2012 in Auskick where he played for a couple of years before joining in the U8’s and moving through the higher grades.
Jake is a good all-rounder and is usually played in the mids and forwards. He likes the forwards so he has the opportunity to kick goals. He has a big accurate kick and is a reliable consistent player having scored many goals in the U11’s.
He is well liked and respected by his teammates having rated very highly last season with the ‘Players Player’ votes.
Round 1 of Season 2019!
We were blessed with some outstanding weather for Round 1. Huge thanks to ‘The Usual Suspects’ who spent most of Saturday preparing Rofe Park for the first games of the season. We had some mixed results, including a draw in the Ladies Comp! But it’s safe to say everyone had a great day.
Thank you to all the volunteers, parents, players, coaches, managers and spectators who made it happen!
