The Girls Best & Fairest Award was introduced in 2015, when there was a concerted effort to develop female participation at our club. That year saw 5 girls from our club join with girls from Pennant Hills & Westbrook Junior AFL Clubs to regularly train together in what was a precursor to the establishment of the North West Lightning. All 5 of these girls were recipients of the award in its inaugural year. The award was then shelved in 2016, with the formation of the first North West Lightning team. A decision was made for the award to be reinstated in 2023.
The award criteria has been amended overtime, and is now awarded to the girl from one of our competitive teams with the greatest average best & fairest votes per game played across the season.
