CLUB STATEMENT – GIRLS FOOTBALL

This evening the Hornsby Berowra Eagles Junior AFL Club has made the difficult decision to discontinue our involvement in the North West Lightning (NWL) Girls Alliance with Pennant Hills Junior AFL Club and Westbrook Junior AFL Club going into the 2025 season.

The committee has made this decision with the best interest of our girls, their families and our coaches at the forefront of our minds.  We believe this decision will also allow us to follow a direction to build on the growth we have experienced in girls’ football in recent years.  Much deliberation went into the process and this decision has not been taken lightly.

We acknowledge the significant role the NWL Alliance has played in allowing our girls to participate in football over the past 9 years. We are well aware of the unique benefits that NWL offered our girls during this time and the affiliation that many of the girls felt towards playing for the Lightning.

As the Hornsby Berowra Eagles, we will now be looking to field girls teams in the U9, U11 and U13 age groups in 2025. We will work with our U15 and U17 girls to make arrangements to continue playing football. This is in addition to our girls aged 4 – 7 years participating in our Auskick program.

The Club is committed to providing all players (boys and girls) and their families, the best possible football experience. We are excited for the next chapter of girls football at our Club.

Parents/Guardians of our Hornsby Berowra Eagles registered girls will have received an email with further information.

Registrations remain open for girls to participate in our Hornsby Berowra Eagles girls only U9, U11 and U13s team, as well as our Auskick program (girls aged 4 – 7). For further details visit www.hornsbyberowraeagles.com
